Grant Title: VAWA Recovery Act: Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners - SANE (2009)
Description: The primary goal of this grant opportunity is to reduce the re-victimization of sexual assault victims and to promote their safety as they move from being victims to becoming survivors by:
- Improving the medical system’s effectiveness in identifying and responding to rape, sexual assault, and intimate battering.
- Integrating effective responses to rape, and sexual assault into the standard operating procedures of medical care systems.
- Improving the clinical, interpersonal, and administrative competence and response of the medical community in treating and addressing violence against women, including those from traditionally unserved and underserved populations.

- Application Due Date: December 31, 2009
- Project Start Date: June 1, 2009
- Project End Date: March 31, 2011. (Wisconsin has requested an extension for Recovery Act funds which would allow projects to operate beyond this date. For now, the applicant should develop a budget plan that ends 3/31/2011 with the option of an extension pending federal approval of OJA’s extension request.)
Anticipated Funding Amount: A total of $107,810 is available.
Match/Cost Sharing Requirement: No match required.
Eligibility: Eligibility is limited to the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault.
